Hiding Behind Anger and Frustration
Anger and frustration often show up as masks. They cover over the things we don’t want to face—the painful truths, the deeper emotions, the parts of ourselves that feel too raw to expose.
When someone brushes against one of those nerves, anger can feel automatic. It’s hot, sharp, and reactive. But underneath, there’s usually something else—stress, exhaustion, fear, or a deeper wound.
What Anger Does to the Body
When we go straight into anger, our bodies pay the price. This isn’t just emotional—it’s physiological:
Stress hormones surge. Cortisol and adrenaline spike, signaling your body to prepare for “fight or flight.”
Blood sugar rises. The liver releases glucose into the bloodstream, giving you quick energy for battle or escape.
The nervous system speeds up. Heart rate accelerates, blood pressure climbs, and breathing becomes shallow.
Heat builds. For many, it feels like “the blood is boiling.” That sensation is real—blood vessels dilate, blood flow increases, and body temperature can literally rise.
This energy spike is designed to help you react quickly. But the truth is, it makes clear thinking almost impossible. You lose grounding, presence, and the ability to truly hear yourself—or anyone else.
Anger as Energy
From an energetic perspective, anger is fire. Fire transforms, purifies, and brings light. But left unchecked, it scorches.
Chakra Connection: Anger often overwhelms the solar plexus (Manipura), the energy center of power and self-worth. Overheated, it lashes out. Balanced, it gives strength without aggression.
Aura Impact: Bursts of anger ripple through your field like sparks, destabilizing your energy and those around you.
Healing Practices: Rather than letting fire consume you, you can use grounding techniques to cool the flames and reset your system.
What To Do When Your Blood Is Boiling
This is where practice matters. When you feel the heat rising—your body’s alarm system—it’s not about focusing on what the other person is doing. It’s about asking: what does my body need right now to reset?
Here are practical tools you can use the moment you notice anger bubbling up:
Tap. Do the Four Thumps from the Daily Energy Routine (also on my Instagram). They’re quick acupressure-based taps that rebalance your energy, ground your nervous system, and help release the cortisol surge.
Tap cheekbones (stomach tap) – clears stress and worry.
Tap the beginning point of the collarbone (kidney tap) – resets circulation and breath.
Tap the mid upper chest at the thymus (thymus tap) – boosts immunity and calms overwhelming feelings.
Tap under arms (spleen thump) – balances fight/flight energy. (make three-finger notch, attempt to thump under arms, you’ll end up on the ribcage and tap there)
Breathe. Inhale gently through your nose. Exhale slowly—longer than the inhale—to signal safety to your nervous system. Imagine the heat leaving your body with each exhale.
Step Away. Give yourself permission to pause the moment, walk outside, or simply turn inward. Anger wants to pull you outward into conflict, but healing requires you to go inward first.
Listening to the Signal
Anger is a signal—it says: “something doesn’t feel right.” The key is to treat it as information, not identity.
When you regulate first, you can respond from calm instead of chaos. That’s when clarity and connection become possible again.
Reclaiming Your Energy
When you regulate first, you change the pattern.
From:
“I’m a victim of my day.”
To:
“I’m in control of my energy.”
The same tasks, the same conversations, the same life—but a completely different nervous system response.
That’s the difference between living in reaction and living in power.
Final Thought
Next time anger or frustration rises, pause to reflect. Instead of letting it drive your words and actions, give your body and energy what they need. Tap. Breathe. Reset.
The dishes will still be there. The conversation can wait. But your nervous system can’t. Take those few moments to come back to yourself—because your peace and alignment are worth protecting.
Same life. Same tasks. Different response. And that makes all the difference.
