Lead with Love: Breathing Through Your Heart

When life gets tense, it often shows up in our body before we even notice it in our mind. For me, it’s the heart space.
That subtle tightness in my chest, the heaviness in my breath, or even just a sense that my emotional doors are closing.

That’s when I remind myself:
Lead with love. Open your heart.

It sounds simple, but when we consciously choose love as our starting point, we shift the way we breathe, move, and respond. The heart chakra isn’t just a poetic concept—it’s connected to our physical body through the chest, lungs, and the upper back. Stress can cause that space to contract. Love—felt and expressed—encourages it to open.

Step One: Breathe Into the Heart

Breath is the fastest way to calm the nervous system and soften tension in the chest. Try this:

  1. Place one hand over your heart.

  2. Close your eyes and inhale deeply, imagining your breath flowing directly into your heart space.

  3. Exhale slowly, releasing any weight or pressure you feel there.

  4. Repeat for a few minutes until you feel your body ease.

When we breathe with awareness, we interrupt the body’s stress signals, making it easier to respond instead of react.

Step Two: Move to Open

When my heart feels closed off, I choose yoga poses that physically expand the front body and invite emotional release:

  • Fish Pose (Matsyasana) – Opens the chest and throat, boosts circulation, and energizes.

  • Supported Backbend over a Yoga Wheel – Gently stretches the heart space without strain.

  • Child’s Pose (Balasana) – Offers grounding while still allowing gentle expansion in the upper back.

  • Downward Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana) – Lengthens the spine and opens the shoulders, creating space for the heart to lift.

These aren’t just “stretching.” They’re physical cues to the mind: It’s safe to open.

Step Three: Lead With Love in Daily Life

Once the breath and body have softened, it’s easier to choose love over fear, compassion over defensiveness.
From this open space, we own our emotions instead of letting them own us. We can feel the full spectrum—without getting lost in it.

💫 Invitation:
Next time you feel tension in your chest or your emotions running high, pause. Breathe into your heart, try one heart-opening pose, and see how your perspective shifts.

You might find that love was there all along—you just needed to make space for it.

And if you’re ready to go deeper, you can book a virtual 1:1 energy healing session with me so we can work through your heart space together.

With Love,

Jeri
