*Do You Love Yourself?
It’s a simple question with a surprisingly complicated answer: Do you love yourself?
This is a question you’ll often hear in energy healing sessions, and for good reason. Many of our struggles—whether emotional, physical, or even spiritual—can be traced back to the heart. The heart chakra isn’t just about romance or fleeting feelings. It’s the energetic bridge.
It connects the upper chakras—intuition, higher vision, and spiritual awareness—with the lower chakras—stability, safety, and survival. In Chinese medicine, it sits at the meeting point between the upper dantian (wisdom, spirit) and the lower dantian (vitality, physical energy). The heart is where heaven and earth meet within us.
When that bridge is strong, life feels whole. But when it’s blocked—when we don’t know how to love ourselves—the effects ripple everywhere: in relationships, career, health, and even in our ability to feel at peace.
My First Honest Answer Was “No”
The first time someone asked me this question, I didn’t even hesitate: no, I don’t love myself.
It wasn’t because I hated my life. On the outside, everything looked “fine.” I had a good job, good relationships, and what looked like a good path. But inside, I was still seeing myself through other people’s eyes. Their opinions, their judgments, their validation—it all weighed heavier than my own self-perception.
I didn’t even realize it at the time, but my sense of worth was outsourced. And no matter how much you accomplish, if you don’t anchor that worth inside your own heart, it never feels like enough.
Why Self-Love Feels Hard
Psychology actually explains this: we’re wired to look outside ourselves for approval from a young age. As children, survival depends on belonging. If our caregivers approved of us, we were safe. If they didn’t, love felt conditional. Those old patterns can follow us into adulthood.
Energy healing teaches a parallel truth: when love is missing from the heart, energy can’t flow evenly through the body. You might feel “stuck” in survival mode (lower chakras) or disconnected in your spiritual life (upper chakras). Self-love isn’t just a fluffy idea—it’s a physiological and energetic state that deeply impacts well-being.
Self-Love as a Skill, Not a Switch
This is why I’ll never say, “just go love yourself.” That can feel impossible if you’re not there yet. Loving yourself isn’t a switch you flip—it’s a skill you practice.
Think of it like strengthening a muscle. At first, it may feel awkward, forced, even uncomfortable. But with small, daily repetitions, it grows.
A 30-Day Invitation
So here’s an invitation:
For the next 30 days, do one thing each day that brings you love and joy.
✨ It could be as simple as looking in the mirror and saying, I love you.
✨ Taking yourself on a quiet walk.
✨ Cooking a meal with care, just for you.
✨ Listening to a song that makes you smile.
Small acts of love accumulate. Over time, they rewire your nervous system, soften old patterns, and open your heart bridge.
Closing Thought
If your honest answer today to “Do you love yourself?” is no—that’s okay. Acknowledgment is the doorway.
Start small. Start today. And by the end of 30 days, you might just find that the bridge of your heart feels steadier, stronger, and more alive than it has in years.
